Diocesan Offices
MISSION STATEMENT: Committed to the vision of the Gospel, the Spirit of Vatican II and the realisation of God's Kingdom, we, the staff of the Diocesan Office, seek to serve in a spirit of compassion and respect, the Bishop, Clergy and the people of the diocese in meeting the needs of the community through the collaborative sharing of pastoral financial and administrative gifts and resources. "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." 1 Peter 4:10
Finace Administration
The Diocesan Finance Council
The Diocesan Finance Council (DFC) is the primary consultative body to the Bishop on financial and administrative matters. The role of the DFC is to advise the Bishop on the administration of the assets of the diocese.
The DFC is comprised of members appointed by the Bishop with skills and expertise in finance, accounting, investment and law. The Chairman of the DFC is the Bishop.
The Diocesan Finance Office
The Diocesan Finance Office (DFO) is responsible for the administration of the assets of the diocese. This includes supervising the administration of assets belonging to parishes.
In addition to administering the assets of the diocese and its parishes, the DFO is also responsible for all aspects of finance and accounting including implementing the budget determined by the Diocesan Finance Council (DFC), meeting the expenditure authorised by the Bishop and preparing financial reports of the diocese and its apostolates.
The responsibilities of the DFO also include managing the Catholic Development Fund (CDF) on behalf of investors in the fund. This role includes investment management, reporting marketing and customer service. Other responsibilities include managing CatholicCare, Lumen Christi Homes, Busselton Youth Camp and Retired Priests Fund.
The role of the DFO reflects the church’s desire to have a prudent system of controls in its finance and administration. It does this in accordance with the Civil and Church Laws and its own policies promulgated by the Bishop.
Apart from the DFC, another key consultative body that assists the DFO administer the assets of the diocese and its parishes, is the Diocesan Resources Committee (DRC). This body is appointed by the Bishop to assist with the best use of the property assets of the diocese and parishes.
Pastoral Life and Mission Centre
This Centre is a sign of our commitment to walk together as a diocesan family. Everything that happens within will ultimately be directed outward to provide formation support and pastoral services to our parishes, our clergy, our schools, our ministries and the wider community.
The Pastoral Life and Mission Centre is not simply an office space, but a mission-focused centre reminding us of who we are as a Diocese and why we exist – to serve the mission of Christ and the people entrusted to our care.
We hope to strengthen collaboration, to improve accessibility for parishes, and to foster a spirit of shared responsibility, to listen, to connect and to enrich our diocesan life.
Clergy Life and Mission
The main purpose of the Clergy Life and Mission is to support, organise and plan for the clergy ongoing formation, which includes the Professional Development Days, Professional Supervision, Clergy Annual Retreat and Clergy Annual Conference.

Priests Welfare Fundation
The Priests Welfare Foundation provides social welfare, maintenance, necessities of life and relief from poverty to sick and retired priests in the Bunbury Diocese.
The foundations’ annual appeal is held on the first weekend of September and coincides with Fathers’ Day, encouraging people to reflect on the care and support received from the “Spiritual Fathers” who are our priests. This is reflected in the motto of the foundation “For the Care of our Spiritual Fathers”.
OUR VISION
The Bunbury Priests Welfare Foundation aims to grow over time and provide a regular and recurring income source for enhancing the work of the diocese in caring for our sick priests and those in retirement.
WHY IS THE FOUNDATION NECESSARY
The ordination of a priest brings with it a commitment by the Diocese to take care for him and provide for his needs, including after retirement.
Managed by priests, for priests, the Foundation’s purpose is to provide social welfare, maintenance, necessities of life and relief from poverty to our Priests when in need of support.
